Lady Knights Roll! Take Double Header from the Sachem Diamonds to up their record to 5-1!


 
The 12u KPY Lady Knights took their show on the road on Sunday in a 9am double header at Sachem North High School vs the Diamonds. The early start did not agree with the Lady Knights as they snoozed through the 1st 2 innings, trailing 3-0. But in the top of the 3rd, Gianna Pizzulli woke the Lady Knights up with a rocket single to left center. After a Sarah Gunn walk, Daniella Popko singled in 2. Kiki Bass doubled home a run and after a walk to Gabby Amicizia, Brenna Cumming drove in a run with a single of her own. The Lady Knights added 2 more in the 4th as Gianna lead off with a triple over the center fielder’s head and Jess Sommo drove her home with a single. In the 6th, 6 more runs put the game out of reach as Gianna, Jess Sommo & Maddie Anderson each drove in runs with base hits. Gabby Amicizia upped her record to 2-0, going 6 innings, allowing 5 hits, 3 earned runs, 2 walks and a whopping 9 strikeouts! Gianna earned player of the game honors, going 3-4 with a triple, 3 runs, and 1 RBI. Lady Knights 14, Diamonds 4.

The Lady Knights did not waste any time in game 2 as they scored 5 times in the opening frame. Maddie Anderson lead off with a base hit and after a walk and and an error, Marissa Passantino tripled in a run. Kiki Bass drove her home with a base knock and Brenna Cumming closed out the scoring with an RBI single. After 3 consecutive ground outs to the pitcher in the 2nd, the Lady Knights put up their second 5 spot of the game in the 3rd. Jessie Forneiro lead off with a walk, Jessica Sticco doubled, Marissa singled home Jessie, Sarah Gunn singled home a run and Michelle Defina smoked a run scoring single up the middle. The Lady Knights would walk off in the 4th in spectacular fashion. After a Maddie Anderson base hit, Jessie Forneiro hit the Lady Knights 1st home run, beating the left fielder with a frozen rope, scoring 2 runs. Jessica Sticco singled and in the blink of an eye, stole 2nd, 3rd and home to end the game. On the bump, Maddie Anderson earned her 1st win of the year, going 4 innings, allowing 3 hits and striking out 5. Jessie Forneiro earned player of the game honors reaching base all 3 times up, scoring 3 runs and driving in 2 with the bomb. Lady Knights 13, Diamonds 3

The Lady Knights will look to build on their 4 game winning streak on Mother’s Day at 11am at Memorial 17 with a double header vs the Brentwood Panthers who they split with in week 1.
