Flag Football: 5 & 6 year olds

Age Cutoff: If the player turns 7 years old on or before November 15 – He must be registered in the 7/8 year old program.  Coaches must evaluate all the players before any exceptions are made.

KPY Flag Football is an instructional youth football league for 5&6 year old children.  This league is an exciting and fun way for the kids to learn the basics of football, teamwork, and discipline. Cheer both teams and always be positive.  There are no standings, scores are not kept, and winning has no relevance. The kids will be very competitive so the coaches and parents can NOT be.

KPY will supply game jerseys and mouthpieces for all participants.  Please have your children dressed appropriately (depending on the weather), cleats are necessary, and bring plenty of water.

If you are interested in coordinating the Flag division or coaching contact the Commissioner

Football  7  - 11 year olds

7-11 is a TRAVEL league and is exceptionally competitive.  If an age group has 2 or more teams, the teams will be divided so  the most competitive kids are placed on the same team. This will allow our children to compete with the rest of Suffolk County.  Coaches, not parents, will determine the placement of children so we continue to be competitive.

If an age group has only 1 team, the maximum amount of kids on 1 team will be 21 and returning players will fill the roster first.  All others will be put on a wait list until we reach 34 kids, then we can split into two teams with 17 kids on a team

Teams are divided for safety reasons.  We will not place a child in an upper division if he/she is not physically able to compete at that level.  We will also not allow a superior athlete to play down a division for safety reasons.  Coaches are NOT selected until AFTER the teams are divided.  The league that we play in (PAL) has mandated that all towns divide the teams this way.

·       Practices will be every Tuesday/Wednesday &Thursday @ 5:30 pm during the summer

·       When School begins practices will be Tuesday & Fridays @ 5:30 pm at Memorial
