2022 Intramural Information

General Information
The basketball season runs November through February.
KPY Intramural Basketball program is designed for all students in kindergarten through 12th grade.
We offer clinic style sessions for kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade. These sessions are held once a week for an hour. Our main focus and goals for these clinics are to introduce the game of basketball in a basic and fundamental way. We want to encourage participation while teaching the basic skills of dribbling, passing, shooting, defense, and overall game knowledge in an age appropriate way. Clinic sessions incorporate stations, modified drills, and a lot of repetition for our young athletes. And of course we want them to have fun!
We offer a boys league and a girls league which include weekly practices and games for the following divisions…
- 3rd & 4th grade
- 5th & 6th grade
- 7th-9th grade
- 10th-12th grade (boys only)
The leagues will be broken up into teams, unlike the clinic sessions. You will have one practice and one game per week. The focus of the younger divisions is to build on what was previously learned at the clinic level and now incorporate those skills into game settings. Fundamentals like dribbling, passing, shooting, defense, and overall game knowledge will still be emphasized at practice. The focus of the older divisions is to continue the love for basketball. We offer competitive games and practices, while still incorporating the light-hearted fun of a pick up game.
We are a developmental program and encourage all talent levels to join at all levels.
Athletes will share playing time, our main goal is to develop players, and ultimately have them have fun playing with their peers.
Intramural Basketball will include…
- Full uniforms (league play)
- Reversibles (clinics)
- Basketball (clinics)
- Referees
- Scoring/Stats
- Free clinics with our varsity basketball teams
- SIPlay app for scheduling
